Relevant background/experience: Culture: I grew up Catholic; my parents are from Illinois and I have lived most of my life in Maryland, specifically living and/or working in Baltimore City since 2003. Raised Catholic. Sensitivity: I grew up with a severely mentally & physically disabled sister who went to a specialized special ed school; she was also in and out of the hospital her whole life with seizures and pneumonia and ended up in a nursing home on a ventilator for the last years of her life; my mother also had a stroke and was unresponsive for the last several years of her life; we took care of her at home; she had a feeding tub, trach, and oxygen; I have worked for a language immersion charter school in Baltimore City since 2009 and am very familiar with language immersion education, IB K-8 education, charter schools in Maryland, and the Baltimore City Public School system. I read German fluently (studied German in school and lived in Koblenz 2001-2002), have experience beta reading, especially for spelling/grammar
