Fan art details: I am offering one knitting pattern (specifically in a two-color double-knitting style) for some flat item of your choice (potholder, scarf, blanket, etc). Double knitting looks a bit like pixel art, where the reverse side is the same as the front, but mirrored and with the two colors swapped. Please note that I am not offering to make the item or include photos of a finished item, only a pattern, which will be presented as a chart.

This pattern could either be directly inspired by an image of your choice (with appropriate permission from the artist), or you could give me a starting prompt/fanwork with a few design elements to include. If it's a fandom I'm not familiar with, I may need help tracking down appropriate references. The final printable pattern will be shared with you and on ao3.

If you'd like to see some examples of my work, my portfolio links include an M.C. Escher print re-imagined as a blanket, the text "Mandelbrot" added to a scarf, and a scarf with a repeating rose and briar motif inspired by a fanfic.

Especially interested in: Bold, simple, or stylized symbols (hearts, stars, animals, significant objects, text, etc) will translate to a two-color ""pixel"" image better than a more complicated image (realistic face, busy scene, etc).

There are tricks with irregular double knitting to make text appear right-way-around on both sides of the work which I would be excited to include in the pattern! For an example, I designed the text (and only the text) for the Mandelbrot scarf in my portfolio.

Unwilling to address: Depiction of symbols or real people primarily associated with real-life atrocities, oppression of others, and/or violent or abusive crimes

Other notes: I'm picturing creating a pattern with a single image or repeating motif, rather than e.g. multiple separate panels. I'd love to go back and forth a bit in the initial brainstorming stages and also later during drafting to make sure that the pattern still reflects your vision! I wouldn't want you to feel like you could no longer tell what you were looking at after the simplification (conversion to stitch-pixels/two colors) step. I'm also happy to adjust the size and expected gauge of the pattern while the pattern is still in early draft stages.
